Dr Guerrero Urbano has previously held senior Consultant Clinical Oncologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer positions at Royal Surrey County NHS Trust, Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Foundation Trust, University of Surrey. She was a Senior Research Fellow at University College London and a Clinical Cancer Research Fellow at the Institute of Cancer Research and Royal Marsden Hospital. Dr Guerrero Urbano completed her oncology training at the Royal Marsden, Royal Surrey County and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. She completed her PhD at the University of London in 2008. Dr Guerrero Urbano is joint Module Leader for the Respiratory, Head and Neck module, MSc in Oncology, Institute of Cancer Research. She offers weekly Oncology Seminars at St Luke’s Cancer Centre aimed at doctors, nurses, radiographers and physicists and monthly lectures at the post-graduate Medical School at the University of Surrey. She is a PhD and MD examiner. Her formal research evaluated technical and biological aspects of intensity-modulated radiotherapy at the Institute of Cancer Research/Royal Marsden Hospital. Dr Guerrero Urbano is particularly interested in the use of novel radiation techniques to minimize long-term side effects and the use of chemotherapy and targeted therapy to improve outcomes. Dr Guerrero Urbano has published her research widely and spoken at conferences worldwide.
